Renting a Stroller From Walt Disney World
If you’re planning a trip to Walt Disney World with little ones, I highly recommend using a stroller. It’s difficult to prepare for the amount of walking that you’ll actually end up doing while visiting the parks. In addition, Florida is very hot and humid most of the year, with real feel temperatures often exceeding 100 degrees fahrenheit in the summer. Being able to offer your little ones a comfortable place to sit down and rest, drink some water and take a break from the sun is essential.
That being said, it’s difficult to ignore the fact that there can be added logistics involved when traveling with your own stroller. It’s also possible that your stroller doesn’t abide by Disney’s stroller policy (more on that later). Not to worry, there are other options! One popular choice amongst guests is to rent a stroller for the duration of your trip, rather than bringing your own. Although there are many third party companies offering this service, you can choose to rent a stroller directly from Disney. In this post I’ll share with you some additional details about Disney’s stroller policy as well how their stroller rental process works.
Walt Disney World Stroller Policy
In 2019, Disney updated their stroller policy to include size regulations aimed at improving the flow of traffic inside the parks. Strollers that are larger than 31” (79cm) in width and 52” (132cm) in length are not allowed into the parks. Additional policy guidelines on stroller usage within Walt Disney World include the following key points:
Stroller wagons of any kind or not permitted
Guests are asked to refrain from using strollers while on escalators; instead utilizing ramps and elevators.
In order to use the parking lot tram, children must be removed from their strollers and the stroller will need to be collapsed to board the tram.
Disney recommends that guests do not leave any valuables inside of your stroller while it’s unattended. I always put our valuables inside a single bag that I bring with us whenever we need to leave the stroller behind to go on a ride.
To avoid a potentially frustrating situation, prior to leaving for your Disney trip, double check the measurements of your stroller to ensure it is the appropriate size. If you discover that it isn’t, renting might be a more viable option than buying a whole new stroller.
Walt Disney World Stroller Rentals
Disney conveniently offers stroller rentals in each of the four Walt Disney World theme parks and Disney Springs. Both single and double strollers are available. Single strollers are recommended for children that weigh less than 50lbs, while double strollers are recommended for children that weigh 100lbs or less. You can choose to pay a daily rental fee, or pre-pay for the number of days of your trip and the per day charge is less. Please see the rate breakdown below:
Single Stroller:
Daily: $15/day
Multi-Day (Pre-pay for length of stay): $13/day
Double Stroller:
Daily: $31/day
Multi-Day (Pre-pay for length of stay): $27/day
If you purchase a length of stay ticket, and pre-pay for the number of days that you’ll be visiting Disney, you will be charged less per day. If you choose this option, you will just need to show your receipt at the rental locations inside the theme parks or Disney Springs to get your stroller for the day. When you’re finished using the stroller on a particular day, be sure to return it back to one of the rental locations on your way out of the theme park/Disney Springs.
I believe there are pros and cons to any of the available stroller options; whether it’s your own, you rent from Disney or you rent from a third party company. The biggest pro of renting from Disney is the convenience. Simply stop by one of the rental locations just inside the entrance of each park and either pay the daily fee or show your receipt if you prepaid and retrieve your stroller. The two biggest cons of renting from Disney in my opinion is that you can’t remove the strollers from the park. If you need a stroller for the hotel or anywhere outside of Disney during your stay, this stroller cannot be used. The second biggest con is that they don’t offer any options for infants; the design of their strollers is intended for kids that are a little older (think toddler and above). In that case, you may need to consider bringing your own, or renting from a third party company that has more options.
Walt Disney World Rental Locations
Be sure to download the My Disney Experience App for the interactive map feature that will make navigating the parks and finding places like the stroller rental location much easier. Each theme park as well as Disney Springs has a rental location. (In fact Epcot has 2!)
Epcot:
Main Entrance: As you pass through security at the main entrance, veer towards the left and you’ll start to see signs for the rental location
International Gateway: Located in the World Showcase between France and the United Kingdom, this offers guests a second entrance into Epcot. It’s a great option if you plan on park hopping over to Hollywood Studios using the Skyliner, you can return your stroller rental and get right onto the Skyliner. (Valid park hopping ticket would be required).
Hollywood Studios:
Oscar’s Super Service: As you enter Hollywood Studios, head towards the right past the Crossroads of the World and you’ll find Oscar’s Super Service.
Magic Kingdom:
Main Street Train Station: As you enter the park, start heading towards the Main Street Train Station directly ahead and towards the right. As you pass through, you’ll find the stroller rental location tucked underneath the train station.
Animal Kingdom:
Garden Gate Gifts: As you enter the park, head towards the right and you’ll immediately see signs for stroller rentals at Garden Gate Gifts.
Disney Springs:
Sundries: Located just past the Bus loop in between the Coca Cola Store and Wolfgang Puck Bar and Grill. It is a short walk from the Orange Parking Garage as well.
Final Thoughts
Your little one will be forever grateful for the option of using a stroller while visiting the Walt Disney World theme parks and Disney Springs. I learned the hard way that even a toddler in the “no stroller” phase will start asking where their stroller is the more you walk around. When they’re not using the stroller, it makes a great place to put all your souvenir bags! Renting a stroller directly from Disney is an easy and convenient option that many families utilize on their vacations. Be mindful of Disney’s stroller policy if you plan to bring your own. There are third party companies that offer rentals as well. And lastly, Disney also sells Mickey and Minnie themed umbrella strollers currently priced at $40 as one other option.
