My youngest son is almost 2 years old now and he is no longer the biggest fan of sitting in a high chair while eating his meals at home or if we go out to a restaurant. As an alternative, I recently purchased the Finding Nemo Pop ‘N Sit portable booster seat made by Bright Starts. Its compact, portable design, with machine washable fabric made this the perfect choice for us.
The chair is designed to grow with your child and can be used in 3 different ways. As a floor seat, your little one will have a safe and secure place to play. There is a buckle that can be secured around their waist and a detachable plastic tray table that clicks into place when you’re ready to use it for meal time. It works great on the floor, or you can attach it to a chair with the straps that are provided. Lastly, the chair also works great as a toddler booster seat, attached to a chair and pulled up to the table. It puts your little one at just the right height. Assembly and clean up are a breeze. The tray is dishwasher safe, but wipes down easily enough by hand. The chair fabric is machine washable, which definitely comes in handy with messy toddler meals. When not in use, simply remove the tray, collapse the seat and store both in the bag provided. The bag has a strap so you can carry it on your shoulder.
If you’re planning an upcoming trip, a beach day, or even dinner at a friend’s house, I think that this seat provides a great alternative to high chairs. My little one seemed more comfortable with the fabric seat and he enjoys being able to sit right at the table with everyone else. There are two sets of straps that help secure the seat to chairs that work well. Check to see if your specific chair width is compatible, but I believe it will easily fit most standard size chairs. The only issue that I had was that depending on how my son was sitting in the chair, sometimes the buckle for the lap belt would dig into his legs. It didn’t happen every time, so I believe it had to do with how he was sitting, but just something to keep in mind.
Whether you’re like me and looking for a high chair alternative, or you have some fun trips planned and want to have a safe and secure place for your little one to eat and play, the Bright Starts Pop ‘N Sit portable booster seat is a great choice. It comes in a variety of different patterns, including some really fun Disney ones, and can be found on Amazon for $25-$35 depending on the pattern you select.
