Countdown to Spooky Season at Walt Disney World
There’s nothing quite like spooky season at Walt Disney World. Every year, Magic Kingdom is transformed into a frightfully fun haunt and plays host to Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party. From the decorations, treats and character meet and greets to the shows, parades and themed merchandise, there is something for even the tiniest of trick-or-treaters to enjoy. In this post, I’ll share why Halloween has become my family’s favorite time of year to visit the Walt Disney World theme parks and what we’re most excited for in 2025!
Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party
On select nights from August 15th through October 31st, guests can visit Magic Kingdom for a special, separately ticketed event called Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party. The event features unparalleled entertainment, tasty treats, and exclusive merchandise. Ticket prices range from $119 - $229 per ticket and prices will vary depending on the date. Typically, the closer to Halloween event dates are priced higher. Annual Passholders and Disney Vacation Club members can save $10 per ticket on select event nights in August and September. The event begins at 7:00PM, but your event ticket will allow you to enter Magic Kingdom as early as 4:00PM. Tickets are sold in limited quantities, so I highly recommend purchasing them prior to arriving at the park, as they may end up being sold out otherwise. Check out additional event highlights below:
Trick-or-Treat throughout Magic Kingdom - A number of special treat locations will be available around the park that you can visit as many times as you would like while at the event! Trick-or-treat bags are provided as well.
Mickey’s Boo-To-You Halloween Parade - See some of your favorite Disney characters wearing their Halloween costumes! Keep an eye out for the Hitchhiking Ghosts, Disney Villains and Clarabelle, Daisy and Minnie dressed as the Sanderson Sisters.
Not-So-Spooky Spectacular - Jack Skellington hosts this show complete with lasers and fireworks at Cinderella’s Castle!
Hocus Pocus Villain Spelltacular - The Sanderson Sisters call upon other classic Disney Villains in this stage show at Cinderella Castle Stage
Be sure to try some of the exclusive food and drinks available for purchase only during the event at many of the Quick Service dining locations
Before you leave, visit the Emporium to shop for event exclusive merchandise that is sure to make fantastic souvenirs
Halloween Ride Overlays - A few of the classic Disney attractions get a special dose of spooky each Halloween season. What eerily good fun awaits you at Space Mountain, Mad Tea Party or Monsters Inc. Laugh Floor?
Celebrating Halloween at the other Disney Theme parks
Although the remaining Walt Disney World theme parks don’t offer similar events or entertainment like Magic Kingdom, there is still plenty to enjoy! Epcot features “Pluto’s Pumpkin Pursuit” - a scavenger hunt around World Showcase searching for character themed pumpkins. Once complete, return your map and collect your prize! Our family loves Epcot scavenger hunts. We just recently completed Spike’s Pollen-Nation Exploration scavenger hunt during the Epcot International Flower and Garden Festival. Check out that post here!
Animal Kingdom and Hollywood Studios will typically offer Halloween food and drinks for guests to enjoy. Also in Hollywood Studios this year is the new Disney Villains: Unfairly Ever After Show that is now open. We haven’t had the opportunity to see this show yet, but stay tuned for an upcoming post where we’ll share our thoughts once we do!
Final Thoughts
Visiting Walt Disney World during Halloween season has quickly become one of my family’s favorite traditions. If you’re planning on visiting Magic Kingdom during the fall, I highly recommend attending Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party. As a separately ticketed event, there are typically shorter wait times for rides, which is something my toddler appreciates. In addition to the event exclusive parades, shows and treats, my little ones love the ability to trick-or-treat around the park! The past couple of years have been a great experience and we can’t wait to go again this year!
