Celebrate July 4th With Disney!
Spending the Fourth of July at a Walt Disney World theme park is an unforgettable experience. Disney provides an unparalleled level of entertainment, shows, decorations and sweet treats for guests to enjoy. If you’re looking for last minute plans this upcoming July 4th, I highly recommend celebrating with Disney! In this post, I’ll share an overview of some of the offerings guests can expect to see at both Magic Kingdom and Epcot; Disney’s two theme parks with special Fourth of July fireworks shows.
Magic Kingdom
This year, guests will have the opportunity to see the popular fireworks show, “Celebrate America! A Fourth of July Concert in the Sky”. Look up to the sky and witness a breathtaking 360-degree fireworks display high above Cinderella Castle. The show is being offered on both July 3rd and July 4th at 9:20PM. In addition to fireworks, don’t forget to try some of the specialty treats being offered throughout the park, or show off your best dance moves at one of several DJ Dance parties as you explore Magic Kingdom.
Looking for some Patriotic attractions and shows to experience during the day before seeing the fireworks? Spend some time exploring one of the six themed lands inside of Magic Kingdom called Liberty Square. Themed to Colonial America, this is a great spot to begin your Independence Day! Start off with the new Red, White and Blue Waffle that’s being offered at Sleepy Hollow. Visit the Hall of Presidents for a 25 minute show of how the nation was founded. There are animatronic replicas of every U.S. President! Enjoy a leisurely ride on the Liberty Square Riverboat; this will be one of your last times to ride before its permanent closure. Take a picture at the Liberty Bell replica or the Liberty Tree; designed to honor the original Liberty Tree in Boston. Then, when it’s time for something else to eat, head over to either Liberty Tree Tavern, The Diamond Horseshoe or Columbia Harbor House. Each restaurant offers guests a different experience but all are delicious! Before getting your spot for the fireworks, stop by Plaza Ice Cream Parlor for a sweet treat to end the night.
Epcot
Each night, Epcot displays a fireworks show over World Showcase Lagoon. The all new show, called “Luminous the Symphony of Us” begins at 9PM weather permitting. On July 4th, directly afterwards, they will display a special fireworks show in tribute to American History called “Heartbeat of Freedom”. Just as with Magic Kingdom, there is more than just fireworks to enjoy while visiting Epcot on the Fourth of July. Spaceship Earth will be illuminated in red, white and blue in a stunning display for guests to enjoy. This iconic sphere will serve as a truly magical backdrop for photos.
Be sure to visit the American Adventure Pavilion located in between Japan and Italy in the World Showcase. Inside the pavilion, you have the opportunity to experience The American Adventure; a show that retells America’s story with the use of digital projections and animatronic figures. Also located within the Pavilion is the American Heritage Gallery, where you can view the new exhibition celebrating American Indian art. When it’s time for lunch, stop by the Regal Eagle Smokehouse for some delicious barbeque showcasing classic techniques and flavors from different regions in the U.S. You’ll also have the opportunity to take some special Fourth of July photos with Mickey and his pals at The American Adventure as well!
Final Thoughts
This year, Epcot and Magic Kingdom are offering some truly magical ways to celebrate the Fourth of July with your family and friends. From the fireworks and shows to sweet treats there is something for everyone to enjoy. Although the fireworks shows begin after most little ones are already in bed, it might be worth making an exception to experience all the fun offerings available. It’s worth mentioning that if you plan on visiting Magic Kingdom and Epcot on July 4th, you will need to purchase Park Hopper tickets to allow entry into both. Lastly, if you’re worried about the weather (which is a valid concern this time of year in Florida), there are still a lot of fun things to do even if it does end up raining. My suggestion, grab a hot dog from Casey’s Corner located on Main Street, U.S.A. in Magic Kingdom and take advantage of their indoor seating that’s available. Once you’re finished eating, head right into the Emporium to check out all the Fourth of July merchandise available! However you choose to celebrate this year, Two Tots and a Mouse wishes you and your family a Happy Fourth of July!
